When using an electrical appliance basic precautions should always be followed, including the following: Read all instructions before using this clipper. To reduce the risk of electric shock: 1. Do not reach for an appliance that has fallen into water. Unplug immediately. 2. Do not use while bathing or showering. 3. Do not place or store applicance where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. Do not place or drop into water, or other liquids except Oster® cleaning and oiling products. 4. Always unplug this appliance from electrical outlet immediately after using. 5. Unplug this appliance before cleaning, putting on or taking off internal parts.

To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric shock, or injury to persons or pets: 1. An appliance should never be left unattended when it is plugged in. 2. Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on, or near children or invalids. 3. Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by manufacturer. 4. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug fits in a polarized outlet only one way. In the event the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. In the event it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. 5. Never operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Return the appliance to or your nearest Authorized Service Center for examination or repair. (see service manual for listings) 6. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. 7. Never drop or insert any object into any opening. 8. Do not use outdoors or operate when aerosol spray products are being used or where oxygen is being administered. 9. Do not use this appliance with a damaged or broken comb or blade, as cuts or scratches may occur. 10. To disconnect, move all controls to “OFF’, then remove plug from outlet. 11. Do not wrap cord around unit when storing. Continuous stress on the cord can damage cord insulation and result in a shock hazard. 12. Avoid contact with moving blades. 13. Avoid tangling or kinking the cord while clipping or trimming. Should the cord become tangled or kinked, stop clipping or trimming and straighten the cord. 14. During use, do not place or leave clipper where it may be subject to damage by the animal or exposed to weather. SM

OPERATING THE CLIPPER:

1. Remove the blade guard from the unit which is covering the teeth of A. Fine the blades. B. Coarse 2. Disperse a few drops of Oster® Premium lubricating Oil across B the blades. Wipe off excess with a clean, dry cloth. 3. Clean clippings from the blades using the cleaning brush or an old toothbrush. Wipe the housing with a clean, dry cloth. 4. Before replacing the blade guard for storage, spread one or two drops of Oster® Premium lubricating Oil, over the blades to prevent rusting.
